Steps to Acceptance into the Pharmacy Technician Program
1. Proof of Citizenship - You will need to bring
a picture ID and your Social Insurance card for copying to open your student
file. If you are an International Student we will need to copy your passport
and your Student VISA.
2. High School Graduate - Please submit a copy of your transcript
from a Canadian high school (copy is fine, original not required) c/o the
Office of Student Services.
Must be able to prove Grade C / 65% or better in:
- Math 11/12
- English 11/12
- Chemistry 11/12
- Biology 11/12
Alternatives to being a High School Graduate:
If you have a GED you must take and pass the assessment
exam. Appointments for exams are set by Student
Services.
If you did not complete high school you must take the
assessment exam.
All students must be fluent in written and spoken
English - If English is not your first language, and you did not graduate
from a Canadian high school, you will need to provide proof of English fluency.
Students are responsible for the cost of obtaining a score per the following
guideline in TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB or CanTEST: Napra
Language Proficiency Requirements no more than one year prior to the beginning
of a Pharmacy Technician program run. Please contact GEOS Language Academy for

We place a heavy emphasis on Conversational English.
3. Age Requirement - You must be least 19 years
old. If younger, your parent or legal guardian must be available to sign your
contract.
4. A Resume and two References - Before you are
called for an interview with the Pharmacy Technician Program Coordinator, you
will need to obtain two references - forms are to be obtained from Student Services.
These must be from people who can attest to your ability to successfully complete
this program. These references should be teachers, employers or professional
members of the Pharmacy community.
5. An interview with the Pharmacy Technician
Program Coordinator. By appointment only. Students who have successfully submitted
the requirements listed in the points above will be called for interviews. We
reserve the right to deny access to the Pharmacy Technician program based on
the results of this interview and references provided.
6. A Doctor's Certificate of Good Overall Health
must be submitted to Insignia College, c/o the Office of Student Services prior
to being accepted into the program. This form is obtained from Student Services.
7. Must have a current TB test with negative results.
8. A current criminal record check must be submitted
to Insignia College, c/o the Office of Student Services.
Insignia College reserves the right to deny admission to this program based
on an unpardoned criminal record that would be relevant to the academic or placement
requirements of the program. You are required to obtain pardon for any offence
before applying to Insignia College or you must submit a favourable response
from the College of Pharmacists of BC on how they would view your offence when
you decide to apply for regulatory examinations.
