Hospitality Operations Certificate PBLMT Program

This 21 + 4 week Hospitality Operations Certificate Training will provide unemployed and underemployed individuals (immigrants, women, PWDs, older workers, etc.) with occupational skills training, on-the-job training, employment assistance services, and financial support to secure sustainable employment.

A career in the Hospitality Operations Certificate PBLMT Program

The Hospitality Operations Certificate Training Program is an 21+4 week practicum Project Based Labour
Market Training. Participants will learn Hospitality Operation occupational skills, essential and employability skills, and work experience. This course is designed to prepare you to be employment ready for a variety of positions in the hospitality and tourism sector, as these industries are growing rapidly in BC.

Training Information:

Hospitality Operations Certificate Training Program is a 100% government-funded free, group-based full-time program consisting of:

  • 20 weeks of virtual and in-person academic training
  • 1 week of certification training
  • 4 weeks of work experience with local employers
  • 3 week of job support

  • World Host
  • Serving It Right

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Referred by a WorkBC Centre with confirmation
  • Currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits or have had an EI benefit within the previous 60 months (reach back)or have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and have paid Employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years)
  • Either unemployed or precariously employed (less than 20 hours a week) 
  • Currently a resident of British Columbia
  • Possesses either a Permanent Residency, or Canadian Citizenship, or Refugee with Protected Person status (court decision)
  • BCEA PWD Clients are also eligible

College Pre-requisites:

  • High School Diploma
  • English Language Proficiency at Grade 10 level or English Language Assessment (IELTS 6 or equivalent)
