Commercial Pilot Advanced Aviation Diploma

If you are a foreign pilot who wants to fly for pay or reward in Canada, you must hold a valid Canadian commercial or airline transport pilot licence. A career in the Commercial Pilot Advanced Aviation Diploma (CPAAD) program in Canada

Obtain the requirements set by Transport Canada for each licence candidate is looking to convert.
Provide enhanced and in depth knowledge of the aviation industry as a whole and the Canadian Aviation industry specifically, covering all the following requirements: business, operations and develop the needed skills to navigate the industry. This includes knowledge of airport operations and safety, airline procedures and systems, security measures, elementary maintenance, and how to effectively plan and develop a career in aviation.

Grade 10 and 12/ high school diploma

High school diploma from a system in which English is the official language, or IELTS 6.0 or Equivalent

Course Content

Airport Operations

Focuses on airport business operations including economic and regulatory principles, how airports are organized and the process of strategic, master and operations planning.

Safety Management System

The course will introduce to the Safety Management Systems to ensure aerodrome readiness to the comply with local civil aviation regulations. This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skill to plan, develop, and implement a Safety Management Systems (SMS) and ensure on-going compliance with safety regulations.

Occupational Health and Safety

The Occupational Safety & Health course is developed to educate students on the health and safety of their crew members, in accordance with the Canada Labour Code, and the Aviation Occupational Safety and Health regulations.

Introduction to Airline Industry

It overviews the organizational structure at an airline with an emphasis on the operational control center and its various departments and personnel that work together in order to deliver safe, efficient and profitable operations at an airline. The course has been designed for those with a working knowledge of aviation business and regulatory concepts. Students will learn about: Airline business models, network planning, marketing strategies, customer service, operational planning and control, labour interactions, operational disruption and recovery strategies.

Ground Handling

The Ground Handling course focuses on how to apply the techniques of collaborative decision making in the context of airports and ground operation. It also provides students with the knowledge of how to build trust among partners, making better-informed decisions and increase the efficiency of airports and the on-time-performance of ground handling. It also develops the skills needed to provide assistance and related passenger services at the check-in, gate and concourse at an airport.

Airport Security

The Airport Security course provides participants with an understanding of the role of the airport in aviation security. Through exploring key security concepts and best practices, this course also supports participants to identify mitigation measures that are appropriate to their own airport’s threat environment.

Elementary Maintenance

The Elementary Maintenance course is form of maintenance that is not subject to a maintenance release. Hence, it need not be performed by a holder of an AME licence, or by persons working under an AMO certificate.

Airport Emergency Management

This course focuses on the importance of planning for emergency situations and properly managing a crisis. It introduces the international requirements of an Emergency Plan, discusses how to manage the press and media in crucial situations, as well as assuring business continuity and the return to normal operations after a crisis. The support provided to victims and the need to rebuild confidence after an incidents are also explored. Current topics on aviation are included.

Aviation Employment Strategies

This module will introduce students to the skills and insights that will help them to undertake effective job research and job search activities in the Aviation industry. The course will focus on helping the students create effective resumes, cover letters and develop confident interviewing skills.

Survival Skills

This course provides students with the skills to prepare for less than idea circumstances and take leadership. It will provide the students with an overall survival experience and the ability to assist in one’s own rescue.

Multi-Crew

Multi-Crew course give student’s realistic training in operating a multi-pilot, multi-engine aircraft. The objectives of the training are optimum decision making, communication, and diversion of tasks and use of checklists, mutual supervision, teamwork and support, throughout all phases of flight under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. The training emphasizes the development of non-technical skills applicable to working in a multi-crew environment.

CRM

Pilot training programs historically focused almost exclusively on the technical aspects of flying and on an individual pilot’s performance; they did not effectively address crew management issues that also are fundamental to safe flight. This briefing note presents guidance in practical terms so that operators can immediately begin to move forward with their crew resource management (CRM) training programs. CRM training is designed to become an integral part of training and operations.

Licence Conversion

This course prepares students to meet the requirements to meet medical fitness, knowledge, experience and skill requirements set out in the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) Part VI, Subpart 1 – Flight Crew Permits, Licences and Ratings.

Ground Briefings

In order to safely accomplish Flight Training lesson, there is a requirement of pre-flight and post-flight briefings as per Transport Canada. Each dual flight requires teaching and solo flight requires instructor’s direct supervision to complete all the flights safely.

Duration

The course for the Commercial Pilot Advanced Aviation Diploma (CPAAD) students are expected to complete approximately 560 hours to successfully complete this program.

Graduation

Upon successful completion of this program students receive

  • Diploma from Insignia College
  • Commercial Pilot License from Transport Canada after meeting CARS requirements.
